East Hartford Mobile Vaccine Clinic Set for June 2 by Anthem, Hartford HealthCare

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Connecticut will sponsor a second mobile COVID-19 vaccine clinic with Hartford HealthCare on Wednesday, June 2, in East Hartford.

The free clinic will be held at Saint Rose Church, 33 Church St., East Hartford, from 1 to 5 p.m. The church is off Burnside Avenue, near New Covenant United Methodist Church and Masjid al-Mustafa Mosque.

The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine will be available for anyone age 12 and older. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Walk-ins are welcome. Vaccines also may be scheduled at HartfordHealthCare.org/vaccine. Anyone vaccinated will also be scheduled for their second dose on June 23 at the same location.

“Now is the time for all of us to come together and do what we can to support communities across the state to get vaccinated,” said Lou Gianquinto, president, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Connecticut. “With people 12 and older now eligible for vaccination, we want to make access easy for people and that’s why we’re joining Hartford HealthCare to bring a clinic directly into a community where we know there’s a need.”

Anthem previously sponsored a vaccine clinic with Hartford HealthCare on May 11 in Bridgeport. Second doses for those who were vaccinated then will be available June 8 at the Cathedral of Faith, 2319 Fairfield Ave., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Jeffrey A. Flaks, president and chief executive officer of Hartford HealthCare, said community vaccination clinics are an important component of the health system’s community outreach efforts.

“We are delighted to work once again with Anthem to provide vaccines to all who need them — especially now that people 12 and older are eligible for vaccinations,” he said. “This partnership helps us keep our communities and our state healthy.”
