The Hartford HealthCare Ayer Neuroscience Institute announces the addition of neurologist and movement disorders specialist Dr. Benjamin Dorfman to its team, seeing patients at the Chase Family Movement Disorders Centers in Cheshire and Winsted.
Dr. Dorfman’s areas of clinical interest include movement disorders such as: Parkinson’s disease; dystonia; facial spasms; involuntary movements; myoclonus; restless leg syndrome; spasticity; tardive dyskinesias; and tremor. He also performs botulinum toxin injections and deep brain stimulation programming for movement disorders.
Dr. Dorfman is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University, earning a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience with university honors. He earned a medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, and completed an internship at Westchester Medical Center and neurology residency at Montefiore Medical Center. He recently completed a clinical fellowship in movement disorders at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Dr. Dorfman, oard-certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology, Dr. Dorfman has published articles on such topics as medications to control tardive dyskinesia, restless leg syndrome, vertigo, and motor and non-motor features of Parkinson’s disease.
He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society.
