Connecticut’s daily COVID-19 positivity rate bumped slightly to 3.99 percent on Feb. 24 as much of the state remained at moderate rates of transmission, according to newly released data from the state Department of Public Health.
A day earlier, the state reported a positivity rate of 3.48 percent, only a month after the positivity rate soared into the mid-20s during the height of the Omicron surge. Twenty-three towns, most in the western portion of the state, are now classified as low transmission, with fewer than five cases per 100,000 people.
“It’s not exactly we’re 100 percent safe or that we’re 100 percent risk of death,” says Dr. Ulysses Wu, Hartford HealthCare’s System Director of Infection Disease and Chief Epidemiologist.
