Dr. John Keggi earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine in Madison. Following his general surgery internship at Yale-New Haven Hospital in Connecticut, Dr. Keggi completed his orthopaedic surgery residency in the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at Yale-New Haven Hospital and Yale University School of Medicine, where he was selected as chief resident and served as clinical instructor.
Dr. Keggi then pursued two prestigious fellowships, the first in pediatric orthopaedics at Newington Children’s Hospital, and the second in adult hip and knee reconstruction at Waterbury Hospital, both in Connecticut.
Dr. Keggi is an attending orthopaedic surgeon at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, and St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford. As a renowned expert in adult hip and knee reconstruction and with 25 years' experience, Dr. Keggi is a frequently invited course instructor, lecturer, and presenter at universities and medical conferences around the country and internationally. He is also the author of book chapters and numerous articles published in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Keggi has been the recipient of many honors and accolades throughout his career, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons’ Blue Ribbon Award and Yale University Teacher of the Year Award. He was also named in the Guide to Top Doctors.
In addition, Dr. Keggi has served the scientific advisory board of OMNIlife science™, and the board of directors for the Connecticut Orthopaedic Society. He currently is a member of the St. Mary's Hospital Board of Directors and the Steering Committee of the Connecticut Joint Replacement Institute at St. Francis Hospital.
